I have worked in a variety of professional settings, both independently and as part of a team, and worked to formal specification while meeting project timelines. I have 7+ years of experience in professional Web development, coupled with a graduate-level certificate in GIS.

GIS Developer

Wisconsin State Cartographer’s Office

June 2016 — present
  • Build and maintain Web application front-ends, with a focus on usability, accessibility, and functional design.
  • Lead the complete back- and front-end overhaul of the Wisconsin Catalog of Aerial Photography, working closely with the Robinson Map Library and statewide government agencies to provide an ideal user experience.
  • Undertook self-directed learning of the PHP Data Objects (PDO) extension, parameterized SQL queries, and the Google Maps JavaScript API.
  • Assist other in-house GIS Developers with their individual projects, working collaboratively to refactor code and improve client-side functionality.
  • Work with full-time staff and county governments to process data for the PLSSFinder and ControlFinder Web applications.

  • Assist the UW–Milwaukee community with finding, using, and verifying the integrity of spatial data from a variety of sources, including government agencies and public repositories.
  • Work one-on-one with students and faculty to help them use GIS in their academic projects and provide practical mapping advice.
  • Fulfill patron requests involving archived data, digital imagery, and map plotting.
  • Help maintain the AGS Library’s social media presence on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.

  • Worked directly with L&S faculty to build websites catered to the needs of their programs.
